We’re still 100% virtual in Atlanta, and I’m finally settling into a routine. I’ve written about some other ideas that have been helpful here and here which details writer’s notebooks, synchronous planning, and building community. Today I’ll pass along a few more ideas from people in this community which I’ve incorporated in class. Breakout Room Discussion Slides – Kelly Herrera shared this idea on using Google slides to monitor small group discussion. When my students go into breakout rooms for discussion, they sometimes get stuck or off task. By creating a slide for each discussion group to record their insights, I’m able to monitor discussions and pop in and out of groups as needed. I create a different slide deck for each class by making copies of the first one then students log in and go to the assigned slide depending on their break out room number.
