This week marks the one year anniversary that I left school on a Tuesday afternoon unknowing of what the future held. While most teachers worked though Friday, March 13th, I was off the 11th for a doctor’s appointment followed by two days of personal leave to help my son and his wife move in DC. I left that Tuesday giving students explicit instructions for the next three days (primarily Othello) so there would be no “the sub never told us what to do” when I returned. (I LOVE my students but they are teenagers . .) I said goodbye, see y’all on Monday, and turned my face to the sun (to find out the next day I had skin cancer) and headed home.
